The death of a spouse, child, family member or friend is a major life crisis and has significant consequences in a person’s life. GriefShare is a support group ministry that provides caring, sharing, ongoing support and encouragement for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, and that offers biblically-based help and guidance in the grieving process. The program is scheduled for 13 weekly sessions and is led by a facilitator or facilitators. Each week features videotaped presentations by experts in the grieving process covering such topics as “When Your Dreams Fall Apart,” “Where is God,” “Your Greatest Resource,” “Growing Through Grief,” “Longing for Heaven,” and others. The video is discussed with the aid of a workbook which includes insightful questions. Appropriate Bible verses are reviewed, and a time of prayer ends each session. The workbooks contain additional readings and a guide to “on your own” reflections for daily help.
The GriefShare program is held at Randall Baptist Church when interest and demand occasion the need to run a series. The minimum number necessary to run a group is 6-8 individuals. If you are interested in participating in a new group, please call the church office (716-634-9800). If the program is not scheduled to be run at Randall in the near future, several other churches in the area also run the GriefShare program and can be contacted directly. GriefShare is a ministry of Church Initiative, and the names and locations of the other area churches using the program can be found by going to the GriefShare website at www.griefshare.com |
