Richard (Dick) H. Murphy - Pastor of Discipleship

A disciple in Jesus’ day was a person who attached himself or herself to another individual, to follow after that person, learn from that person, and ultimately become like that person.  Disciples of Jesus Christ are that and more;  they respond to His call to follow Him; they believed He is the Messiah; they confess their sin and receive forgiveness from Him, they seek after and receive His instruction; and they committ their lives to being like Him.

Jesus commanded His followers to “make disciples.”  This includes introducing people to Jesus, inviting them to enter into a personal relationship with Him, helping them mature in their relationship with Him, and equipping them to minister for Him. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, and I am committed to making disciples.  My ministry as Pastor of Discipleship is to make disciples and train others to make disciples, and help disciples grow in their faith-walk.  All I do springs from my desire to accomplish God’s call on my life to minister for His glory and use my gifts to equip disciples of Jesus to serve him with the full measure of their gifts.
